At this highly interactive event, our objective is to challenge your thinking around how to lead change effectively. We want to inspire you with stories of great leadership and cutting edge thought leadership that have created change ready and agile organisations.
A Message From Our Founder
My message this month is a reminder of self awareness.
Do you think you walk the talk?
Many people talk a good game however I hear people say and do things in complete contradiction to each other.
Say “I value the opinions and value my team members add”
Do, order your team around and never ask for their input
Say “I always do what I say I will do”
Do, never finish anything and always end up with others picking up the slack
Say “it’s really important to have a balance of responsibilities at home”
Do, sit on the couch relaxing with a wine and a book while your partner is washing dishes and folding washing.
Actions speak louder than words. I actually think in some cases people believe because they say all the right things that they are a good and reliable person. However, if your behaviour is in contradiction to what you say it decreases your credibility. Sometimes, we are not actually aware that we are even doing this.
My action for you this month is to become more aware. Observe yourself from the outside and assess yourself as others would to just self check that your are actually walking the talk.
Do this for a minimum of a day but I’d challenge you to do it for at least 3 days at work and at home.
Our relationships are what make our world a pleasurable place to be or a pain to be in. This exercise has the power to make a positive impact on our relationships be they with stakeholders, team members or family, if you are open to it and willing to make a change as a result.
