Can’t always do a job with more people in a shorter time-frame

Have you been on one of those projects where the person who pulls the purse strings decides they can deliver a 3 year program in 1 year if they throw a bunch of money at it?  I can see you all nodding your heads.

It unfortunately becomes the job of the project to attempt to avoid failure by convincing them that it just doesn’t always work that way. Although this can be a very difficult and challenging task, it must be done and the key to success is facts.  Do your numbers and work out the plan, define all dependencies and risks so you can justify without question why it will just not work.  Present this information with confidence and conviction, be assertive and show with your body language and demeanor that you will not waiver.

And next time you are in that situation, and you feel like you are fighting a losing battle to get them to understand, use this quote to help you get the point across.

“It takes one woman nine months to have a baby. It cannot be done in one month by impregnating nine women”
