If you looked, you would be amazed at the amount of open source and free tools available out there to effectively run your projects.
For a small business this is great news. Depending on the size of your organization and project team some tools that you normally have to pay for offer a free version for a smaller user group, say a couple of team members or projects only. Whereas there are other tools that are totally free.
Project Management and Collaborative tools – Skype is just one great business tool, but there are also project management tools online that enable chat, file and message sharing just to name a few.
Organization – there are plenty of tools and apps that can help you be better organized.
Training and Knowledge – you would be amazed at what people are willing to give away for free. Just search YouTube for example.
Data and code repositories – Looking for a shared location to store code and data, well they are out there and free!
Issue and bug tracking tools – looking for a way to manage issues, bug, risks or issues, well there are some fantastic tools out there all free to help you do just this.
Social Media – some of the social media sites have some great features that are highly underutilized. Google+, Facebook and Linked In all offer collaboration services that you can securely use with only a select group of users.
These are just some of the key examples but there is more.
Don’t know where to start? Just Google, it’s all out there to be found.
